Funeral services for Randy S. Geoghagan, 59, of Ashburn will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Ashburn First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Geoghagan died Thursday at Tift Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Geoghagan was born in Tifton, Georgia and was the son of the late Joseph S. “Nig” Geoghagan and Carolyn Whiddon Geoghagan of Valdosta, Ga. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was retired from the Marine Corp Logistic Base as an equipment specialist with the Light Armored Vehicle Division. He was a member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church. He was a 1970 graduate of Turner County High School. Randy was famous for his grilled turkey; loved NASCAR and followed all the cooking shows on TV. He loved Georgia Tech football and playing with his granddaughter, Ansley.
Mr. Geoghagan is survived by his wife, Linda Cravey Geoghagan, and his daughter Dawn (Donnie) Starling, both of Ashburn, Ga. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Ansley Starling and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his grandson, Austin Starling in March of 2012. Also surviving is his mother, Carolyn W. Geoghagan, his brother, Larry Geoghagan, both of Valdosta, Ga. and his sister, Susan G. (Herman) McCard, of Ashburn, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Friday at Perry Funeral Chapel.
