Laura Priest Black

Funeral services for Laura Priest Black, 84, Ashburn, will be held Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Mrs. Black died Tuesday at Crisp Regional Medical Center following in brief illness.

Mrs. Black was born in Polk County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. William B. Priest. She was retired from Manhattan Shirt Company and was a former nurse’s aide for Visiting Nursing Association. She was a member of the Grace Fellowship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. ”Jay” Black and three grandchildren, Lisa Snow, Sheri Smith, and Jamie Black.

She is survived by her son James “Jim” (Peggy) Black, Ashburn, GA, two daughters, Marlene B. White, Warwick GA and Deborah Shumake Dalton, Ga; her grandchildren, Michelle Pierce, Nicole Durden, LeeAnn Clark, Regina Nadeau, Kelly Shumake, Ken Shumake and twenty-one great-great grandchildren including her special one, Jay Durden.

The family will receive friends Thursday, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
