Rebecca Jones

Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Thompson Jones, 93, of Waycross, GA will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Perry Funeral Chapel of Ashburn, GA. Mrs. Jones passed away Saturday in Waycross following an extended illness. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn.

The daughter of the late Warren Dalton and Lola Estelle Hobby Thompson, she was born in Worth CO., GA and was retired from Turner Co. Board of Education as teacher and librarian. She taught Library Science at ABAC and Valdosta State College. She had earned her Master Degree in Library Science from Florida State University and her Bachelor of Science in Education from Georgia State College for Women.

Mrs. Jones was a faithful member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for a long number of years, Director of Training Union and a member of the WMU. She also served as the church librarian for a long number of years. She resided in Turner Co. a long number of years before moving to Waycross to make her home at The Baptist Village.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, H. E. Jones, Jr., a sister, Opal Thompson and a brother W. D. Thompson.

Survivors include her sister and brother in law, Grace and Billy Haynes of Waycross, a sister in law Helen Thompson of Palm Coast, FL and a large number of loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 until 1:30 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
