Roger Lee Fortson

Funeral services for Mr. Roger Lee Fortson, 66, of Thomasville, GA will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn. Mr. Fortson passed away Tuesday at his residence following a lengthy illness. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery in Sycamore, GA.

The son of the late William Roger Fortson and Mageline Fortson Nixon was born in Ashburn. He lived in Ashburn until moving to Thomasville in 1973. He was retired from Flowers Baking Company as a route salesman and was a member of The Harmony Baptist Church in Turner Co.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Glenda Sue Page and Brenda Gail Andrews.

He is survived by his children, Christopher Allen (Mindie) Fortson; William Scott Fortson both of Alachua, FL; Joyce Renee (Bobby) Carroll, High Springs, FL, Teresa Elaine (Scott) Roan, Alachua, FL and the mother of his children, Glenda Fortson Herrin, Alachua, FL. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. His sisters, Jeanette Weaver (Jerry) Merritt, Cairo, GA and Linda (Gary) Tucker, Cordele, GA. A special close friend Brigitte Mercer, Thomasville, GA and his loving and great companion for many years his German Sheppard, Smokey.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from six until eight at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn.
