Humphrey "Doodle Bug" Burdett

Funeral services for Humphrey “Doodle Bug” Burdett, 80, of Ashburn will be held Monday, June 17, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Sycamore Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Mr. Burdett died Friday at Heritage Care following an extended illness.

Mr. Burdett was born in Turner County and was the son of the late Charlie Sherman and Lizzie Jane Burdett. He was retired Assistant Superintendent of the Turner County Road Department and a heavy equipment operator. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Sycamore Baptist Church.

Mr. Burdett is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Ward Burdett, Ashburn; his children, Steve (Rena) Burdett, Sycamore and Regina Wilson, Tifton. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Sgt. Cori Ann Lord, Tampa, Fl, Brian Burdett and Kelly Burdett both of Sycamore, and his brother Sherman Burdett, Ashburn.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday at Perry Funeral Chapel.
