Ruth Wood

Funeral Services for Ruth Britt Wood, 86, of Ashburn will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 16, 2004 at the Ashburn First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Mrs. Wood passed away Tuesday at a local nursing home following an extended illness.

A native of Turner Co., Ga. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Center and Minnie Clowers Britt. She was the widow of Mr. W. D. Wood, Jr. who passed away October 27, 2003. A member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School class and the WMU. She was also a member of the Garden Club of Ashburn. Mrs. Britt was the owner & operator of Ruth’s Variety Shop.

Survivors include her children, David L. Wood of Atlanta and Debra W. Phelps of Albany, 5 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 9:30 till 10:30 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
