Lula Pate

Funeral Services for Mrs. Lula Whiddon Pate, 85, of Ocilla, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, Nov. 19, 2004 at the Harmony Baptist Church in Turner Co. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Pate passed away Wednesday at the Irwin Co. Hospital following an extended illness.

A lifetime resident of Turner Co, Mrs. Pate resided at Palemon Gaskins Nursing Home in Ocilla for the past three years. She was the daughter of Preston DeMonte and Lillie Reece Willis Whiddon. The widow of Albert Felton Pate, she was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church where all of her life she was actively involved in many church activities. Mrs. Pate was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Lurece P. and Billy Kelley, Jacksonville, FL; sons and daughters-in-law, L. A. “Sonny” and LaVerne Pate, Irwinville, Ga.; W. F. “Dub” and Sandra Pate, Ashburn, Ga. and Glenn and Phyllis Pate of Fitzgerald, Ga.; a brother, Ben F. Whiddon, Ashburn, Ga.; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Gregory Kelley.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 till 8 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
