Mary Ellen McCard

Funeral services for Mary Ellen McCard, 69, of Ashburn, Ga. will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 17, 2014 at New Hope Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn, Ga. Mrs. McCard passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at her residence following an extended illness.

The daughter of Eddie Lee Sumner and Kathleen Hall Robinson, she was born in Albany, Ga. She had lived most of her life in Turner County, Ga. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, H. L. (Larry) McCard. She was retired from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. She was a lab tech.

Survivors include her sons Jonathan (Leah) Cassell of Tifton, Ga., Sam (Amanda) McCard of Ashburn, Dusty Lee (Kary) McCard of Cordele, Ga. Daughters Teresa (Steve) McCard Thompson of Doerun, Ga. and Gina (Jay) Russell of Calhoun City, Ms. , sisters Judy (Ray) Kendrick of Ashburn, Ga. and Helen (Jerry) Gwyn of Mooresville, N. C., eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 16, from six until eight at the Perry Funeral Chapel. While flowers will be accepted, for those who wish, please make donations to Hospice of Tiftarea or American Cancer Society.
