Ida C. Gentry

Funeral Services for Ida Gentry, 80, of Irwinville, GA., will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday September 10, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church in Sycamore, Ga. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Turner County, Ga. Mrs. Gentry passed away September 8, 2014 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

She was the daughter of the late Lewis C. and Annie Evans Carr. She was retired from working as a nurse and from the Irwin Co. Board of Education. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudene Gentry.

While Nana enjoyed her gardening and working in her yards, the highlight of her life was cooking and taking care of her grandchildren. She taught them many things to carry on the legacy of Nana and Papa.

Survivors include her sons Garry (Nola) Gentry of Tifton, Ga., and Tommy (Liz) Gentry of Irwinville, Ga., daughter Cheerie (Glenn) Hudson of Irwinville, Ga, brother Henry Carr of Quitman, Ga., six grandchildren, Adrienne Gentry (Ian) Smith of Moultrie, Ga., Tommy (Tricia) Gentry, Jr. of Douglas Ga., Brian Gentry of Fredericksburg, Va., Grant and Sam Hudson both of Irwinville, Ga., two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Jackson Gentry both of Douglas, Ga.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from One until the hour of service at the Bethel Baptist Church.
