Penny Gibbs

Penny Gibbs, 74, of 525 Grande Street, Ashburn, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta, Georgia from complications of a burn accident she suffered in July 2014.

The daughter of the late James F. and Mary Clifford Reed Gibbs, Ms. Gibbs was a member of the Baptist faith and was a charter member of Westside Baptist Church in Ashburn. She also retired from Tift Regional Medical Center as a nurse. Upon her retirement she continued to work as a home health care giver.

Ms. Gibbs is survived by her brothers, Phil (Judy) Gibbs of Athens, Georgia and Cliff (Shelia) Gibbs of Ashburn, Georgia; sisters, Betty Ann Kemp-Matsche of Mt. Dora, Florida and Patsy (Jimmy) Wilson of Sycamore, Georgia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Teny Gibbs and a brother-in-law, John J. Matsche.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 30, 2015 at Ashburn First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in The Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. The family will greet friends at the funeral home Thursday, January 29 from 5-7 PM.
