Ricky Hendricks Nelson

Ricky Hendricks Nelson, 51, of Ashburn passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Born in Ashburn to the late James Hershel Nelson, Sr. and Yvonne Hazel Davison Nelson Mayo of Ashburn, Mr. Nelson proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was also a carpet layer and a member of the Catholic Church. Mr. Nelson was an avid fisherman, NASCAR fan, and football fan. Later in life, Ricky aspired to become a farmer.

Ricky is survived by his daughter, Katrina Dawn Nelson of Ashburn; step-sons, Steven (Anne) Barnes of Omega, Anthony (Courtney) Barnes of Tifton and Chad (Carrie) Barnes of Omega; brother, Jamie Nelson of Ashburn; sister, Jocelyn (Travis) Harper of Warwick. Ten grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Belinda Faye Hughes Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Perry Funeral Chapel with a private interment at Rose Hill Cemetery to follow. The family will greet friends beginning at 2:00 PM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
