Funeral Services for James R. “Jay” Black, age 88, of 200 Perry Drive, Apt. 453, Ashburn, Ga. will be held 4:30 P. M. Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at the Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Black died Sunday at Tift Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Black was a native of Polk County, Georgia the son of the late John David and Eva Hadaway Black. He was veteran of World War Two serving the U. S. Army Air Corp. and was member of the Grace Fellowship Church, Ashburn. He was retired owner and operator of Blacks Volkswagen Repair and had been a resident of Ashburn for over 60 years.
He is survived by his wife Laura J. Black of Ashburn, Ga., and his children Marlene White, Warwick, Ga., James Black, Ashburn, Ga., and Deborah Shumake, Dalton, Ga., and Nine Grandchildren and Fourteen Great-Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from Seven until Nine Monday evening
