Viola Beard

Funeral services for Viola Beard, age 99, will be held Monday, May 30, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in Prospect Cemetery. Mrs. Beard died Friday, May 27, 2005 in Life Care Center in Fitzgerald, Ga. following an extended illness.

Mrs. Beard was a native of Gwinnett County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late James D. & Jerusha Jane Guess Channell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She had resided in Turner County for about 85 years. She was the widow of John Roy Beard who died in 1965.

Mrs. Beard is survived by her son, W.J. Beard of Hudson, Fla., eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Mayo Beard in 1992 and Royce Beard in 1976.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 29, 2005 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
