Mildred Hawkins

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred P. Hawkins, 94, of Rebecca, GA will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in the Rebecca Baptist Church. Mrs. Hawkins passed away Monday at Tift Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn.

The daughter of the late Cheatham P. and Gracie Eveline Hix Plunkett and was born in Chattooga, GA. She has lived in Turner County for over 65 years. She was a member of the Rebecca Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 60 years. She worked with The Child Disaster Relief for the GA. Baptist Association and Lay Renewal. She has gone on many mission trips in over 8 different countries and in the United States. She was the widow of Dorsey Watson Hawkins who passed away in 1985.

Mrs. Hawkins was a retired nurse from Ashburn Health Care and also taught nursing classes at the Wiregrass Tech School in Fitzgerald, GA.

Survivors include her sons, Larry (Donna) Hawkins of Suwanee, GA; Michael (Charlene) Hawkins of Valrico, FL and Timothy Hawkins of Rebecca, GA. Also a near and dear daughter Delores Pope of Rebecca, GA; her sisters, Edna Coulter and Ina Scoggins of Rossville, GA; her brothers Neal Plunkett of Decatur, GA and Melvin Plunkett of Subligna, GA. She is also the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday night from six until eight at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn.
