Sara Elizabeth Timmons Kruse

Sara Elizabeth Timmons Kruse of Columbus, Georgia, died on January 22, 2016. Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia, at 2:30 on Monday, January 25, 2016.

Sara was born in Florence, South Carolina, on September 18, 1923. Her parents were Bertye Ellis Timmons and Luther Rice Timmons. Sara grew up in Florence and graduated from Florence High School. She attended college at Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia, and graduated with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. Sara taught for one year before she married Elwin Kruse from Wheeling, IL. He was a Sears store manager, and they lived in several states before moving to Rome, Georgia. After his retirement, they moved to Savannah, Georgia, where she lived until coming to Columbus. Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Elwin Kruse, and her son, Michael Ellis Kruse.

Sara was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Miller Wilson Sunday School Class. She volunteered at the Wynnton Neighborhood Network and Meals On Wheels until her health failed, and she moved to Green House II at Calvary Baptist Church.

Sara is survived by her two sisters, Bettye Timmons Spence and Gloria Timmons Stover of Columbus, Georgia.
