Leroy Adkison

Funeral services for Leroy Adkison, age 73, Shiloh, Ga. will be held Friday, July 8, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Bethel Church Cemetery. Mr. Adkison died Tuesday at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus following an extended illness.

Mr. Adkison was born in Turner County, Georgia and was the son of the late Thomas Hinton and Inez Paul Adkison. He had lived in Shiloh since 1998 moving from Cobb County, Ga. He was a retired senior financial planner with Waddell & Reed in Atlanta, Ga. Following his service in the United State Marine Corp during the Korean War, he graduated from the University of Georgia. He loved to travel and refinish antiques. He was a church deacon and a member of the Warm Springs Baptist Church in Warm Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Lumsden Adkison, Shiloh, Ga.; two sons Anthony Calvin Adkison, Manassas, Va. and Kevin Leroy Adkison, Shiloh, Ga.; two granddaughters, Kristin & Alyssa Adkison, both of Manassas, Va.; one brother, Tommy Adkison, Hawthorne, Fla. and one sister, Janet Beard, Albany, Ga.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Paul B. Adkison in 1974.

The family will receive friends, Thursday, July 7, 2005 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
