Herbert Ricky Nelson, 59, of Sycamore passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Tift Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born on December 17, 1956 to the late Herbert Stantley Nelson and Marlyn Gayle Wilson Nelson, he was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Ricky was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, deer hunting and wild hog hunting.
He is survived by his mother, Marlyn Wilson Nelson of Sycamore; son, Chessley Nelson of Sycamore; daughter, Meagan (Bobby) Caton of Sycamore; sister, Theresa (Thomas) Williamson of Sycamore; grandchildren, Karli Caton and Camden Caton both of Sycamore and Caleb Nelson of Hiawassee; and a niece, Amy Williamson of Silver Springs, Maryland.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 30, 2016 in Bethel Baptist Church with interment to follow in Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, April 29, 2016 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
