Arthur "Artie" Edward Eld, Jr., 81, of Ashburn, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Tift Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born on October 6, 1934 in Summerville, Massachusetts to the late Arthur Edward, Jr. and Ruth Purcell Eld, he was a member of Journey Church in Tifton. He was a former council member for the City of Ashburn, a member of the Ashburn Rotary Club and the American Legion Post 98. Artie was known as "The Voice of the Turner County Rebels" and supported athletic programs and youth activities in Turner County.
He is survived by his children, Arthur Edward (Katy) Eld, III of Orlando, Florida, Karen Hegner of Boston, Massachusetts, Kevin (Deborah) Eld of Seattle Washington, Michael Eld of Ashburn, Georgia and Courtney Eld of Ashburn, Georgia; grandchildren, Arthur Eld, IV, Morgan Robertson, Samantha Eld, Alexandria Smith, Spencer Hastings, Daniel Hegner, Erin Smith, Jacqueline Hegner, Dylan Eld, Jaggar Eld, Caitlyn Eld, Landon Eld, Aubri Eld, Kaleigha Wilson and Kyleigh Eld; great-grandchildren, Jayden Johnson, Landon Robertson, Kennedy Eld, Abigail Falkowski and Avery Collado. He is also survived by the beloved companion, Marilyn Cravey Eld of Ashburn, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at The Turner County Civic Center. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends Monday, August 22, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
