Funeral Services for Cortez Pate Ireland, 90, of Ashburn, GA, will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Harmony Baptist Church in Turner County, GA. Interment will follow at Harmony Baptist Church cemetery. Mrs. Ireland passed away Friday, October 28, 2016 after an extended illness.
The daughter of the late Henry Elijah and Simmie Lou Martin Pate, she was born in Turner County, GA on June 20, 1926. She was a homemaker and retired from the Turner County Board of Education as a Lunchroom staff member. She was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church and a member of the WMU, Primetimer's Club, and long time Sunday school teacher. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Herbert Roger Ireland, great-granddaughter, Nora Jo Medders, and her siblings, Elna Pate Goff, Felton Pate, Dora Pate Roberts, Annie Pate Denham, O’ Bena Pate McNair, Johnnie Pate Paramore, Buddy Pate, I. J. Pate, and Otha Pate.
Survivors include her three daughters, Jean (Rodney) Allen of Blue Ridge, GA, Joyce (Doyle) Medders of Sylvester, GA, Connie (Bill) Singleton of Andalusia, AL, six grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica) Allen, John Allen, Wendy (Mike) Wade, Lee (Mandy) Medders, Stephanie (Levi) Fletcher, Stacey (Ramon) Dobbs, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, October 30, 2016, from one-thirty until the hour of service at Harmony Baptist Church.
