Ethelene Pirkle Haselton, 89, of Burlington, North Carolina, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017.
Born on August 12, 1927 to the late Grover Washington and Bessie Nora Jones Pirkle. Ethelene was a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. She served the Lord for many years as a Baptist pastor's wife. She was an elementary school teacher for many years. Her favorite verse was Nehemiah 8:10 "The joy of the Lord is my strength." Her humor brought much joy to the lives of many people.
She is survived by her sons, Billy (Mary Jo) Haselton of Raleigh, North Carolina and Stan (Angela) Haselton of Statesboro, GA; grandchildren, Caleb (Abby) Haselton, Annelise Haselton, Kara Haselton and Shanna Haselton; siblings, Maybelle Cross and Otho Pirkle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Carl Haselton, Jr. and her siblings, Junie Howard, Florence Bowen, Grace Hoyt, Geneva Roberts, Eugene Pirkle, Edwin Pirkle and Estus Pirkle.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 27, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church with interment to follow in Bethel Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
