J.W. Mangum

Funeral Services for J. W. Mangum, age 88 of Rebecca, Ga. will be held at 2:00 P. M. Thursday, September 22, 2005, at the Rebecca Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Rebecca. Mr. Mangum died Tuesday at Tift Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Mr. Mangum was a native of Wilcox County, Ga. the son of the late John William and Mildred Asilee Ambrose Mangum. He was a member of the Rebecca Baptist Church and was the oldest living member. He was retired from the U. S. Navy, serving in World War Two and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Seven Stars, Navy Unit Citation and the World War II Victory Medal and served in the Korean War.

Survivors include his sister Beatrice Overby, Macon, Ga., a sister-in-law Wilda Mangum, Rebecca, Ga. and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening Seven until Nine P. M. at the funeral home.
