Mattie Phene Lumsden Karcher, 79, of Sycamore passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Legacy Village at Park Regency in Moultrie.
Born on March 16, 1938 to the late William Thomas and Selma Estelle Camp Lumsden she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Sycamore. According to an article written in a Kansas City, Kansas newspaper on March 14, 1991, she "manned the unofficial control center at the Kansas City, Kansas Community College" where she retired from having worked as a secretary. She was also an accomplished artist.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth Karcher of Sycamore; brothers, William (Helen) Lumsden of Summerville and Charles (Susan) Lumsden of Sycamore; sister, Jewell Lumsden (Lamar) Lumpkin of Valdosta.
A private, family only graveside memorial service was held at the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Saturday, July 8, 2017.
