Annie Ruth Williamson Ivey, 88, of Rebecca passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 at her residence.
Born on December 29, 1928 in Ben Hill County to the late Samuel David, Sr. and Clora Viola Hogan Williamson, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Ivey was a faithful member of Rebecca Baptist Church where she held the longest membership. She had served as Sunday School, Training Union, VBS and Sunbeam teacher. She was a member of the Friendship Sunday School class and served for over 25 years as the secretary and treasurer of that class. She was a member of the WMU. She also served for over 25 years as Prayer Calendar Chairwoman and over 25 years as the Chairwoman of the church flower committee.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Thompson of Tifton and Joy (Wayne) Hobbs of Lands Crossing, Rebecca; sons, Richard (Faye) Ivey of Rebecca and Jackie Ivey of Rebecca; sister, Frances (Percy) Herndon of Cedar Crossing; brother, S. D. (Gloria) Williamson, Jr. of Fitzgerald; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-Grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Williamson of Crestview, Florida and Pat Williamson of Warner Robins; brother-in-law, Richard Peavy of Chestnut Mountain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Watson Ivey, Sr., a daughter-in-law, Ginger Ivey, a great grandson, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Rebecca Baptist Church with interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Rebecca. The family will greet friends Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
The Family acknowledges the love and support given by family and friends, Georgia Home Health and The Hospice of Tiftarea in the last few years and especially during the last few months. She often said she did not know what she had done to deserve it.
