Funeral services for Mary John Davis McCorvey, age 79 will be held Monday, October 24, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ashburn First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. McCorvey died Friday at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. McCorvey was born in Turner County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late John Dan and Letcher Cooper Davis. She had resided in Sylvester for many years before moving to Ashburn in November of 1989. For many years, Mrs. McCorvey served as the bookkeeper of the family owned business, Sylvester Farm Equipment Company. She later retired from the Department of Family and Children’s Service in Sylvester, Ga. She was a member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class.
Mrs. McCorvey is survived by her husband, James Howell McCorvey of Ashburn; daughters and sons in law: Miriam & Bill Harris, Waxhaw, North Carolina and Mary Donna & Henry DeWitt Beman, III, Augusta, Ga. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Henry DeWitt Beman, IV, Huntsville, Alabama, Davis Howell & Elizabeth Beman, Augusta, Ga., and Hollis McCorvey Harris, Waxhaw, North Carolina. Mrs. McCorvey is also survived by three sisters, Evelyn Humphries, Ashburn, Ga., Doris Lewis, Albany, Ga. and Dora Wisham, Ashburn, Ga.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 P.M., Sunday , October 23, 2005 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
