William F. "Mac" McCann, 73, of Ashburn passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at his residence.
Affectionately known as "Mac" he was born on December 26, 1944 to the late William Fitzpatrick and Jean Potter McCann. Mac was the founder, owner and operator of Bancorp Finance in Ashburn and Tifton. He served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Mason with Sycamore Lodge #210 and a Shriner with the Hasan Temple in Albany. He was also a faithful member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church where he was the former chairman of the Council on Ministries and the former chairman of the Administrative Board. Mac was also a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Ashburn. He was an avid tennis player for 25 years and loved his dogs. His greatest joy in life were his 2 grandsons, Chase and Alex.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda W. McCann of Ashburn; daughters, Tracy (Danny Edwards) McCann St. Amant of Ashburn and Julie (Pete) McCann North of Tifton; sister, Patricia Poppell of St. Simons and Jeanie (Steve) Caphton of Jesup; brother, Jim (Cindy) McCann of Screven; grandchildren, Chase St. Amant of Ashburn and Alex North of Tifton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Ashburn First United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM in the church social hall Saturday. The services will be held at 2:00 PM in the church.
