Funeral services for Elna Pate Goff, age 92, of Ashburn will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at 4:00 P.M. at the Harmony Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Goff died Sunday at the Ashburn Health Care where she had resided for the last 15 ½ years following an extended illness.
Mrs. Goff was born in Wilcox County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Henry Elijah & Simmie Lou Martin Pate, Sr. She had resided most of life in Turner County, Ga. She was a homemaker, farmer’s wife, expert seamstress and was employed by Forshee, Denham and Golden Peanut Mills. She was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church where she taught the Golden Circle Sunday School Class for 36 years and was the Girls Auxiliary teacher for many years.
Mrs. Pate is survived by her daughter and son in law, Jeanette G. and Felton “Bay” Saylor of Sycamore, Ga. Also surviving are her son in law, Jimmy D. Benson, two grandsons, Dr. Duward & Alleyne Benson; Dr. Dwayne & Natalie Benson all of Macon, Ga. She is also survived by three great grandsons, Joshua, Matthew & Nicholas Benson and one great granddaughter, Meryt Benson all of Macon, Ga. She is also survived by three sisters, Dora Roberts, Annie Denham and Cortez Ireland all of Ashburn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred “Shorty” Goff , her daughter, Louette Benson, four brothers, A. Felton Pate, Henry Baxter “Buddy” Pate, Ira Jefferson Pate, Otho Pate, and two sisters, Obena McNair and Jonnie Paramore.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
