George "Joey" Sliwa, Jr., 64, of West Boylston, Massachusetts passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany.
Affectionately known as "Joey", he was born on May 31, 1954 in Tifton to the late George Joseph Sliwa, Sr. and Imogene Wilson Watson. Joey served his country with honor in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Trinity Congregational Church where he attended the Men's Bible Study Sunday School Class. He was also a retired diesel mechanic from Transtech.
He is survived by his wife, Roslyn Platt Sliwa of West Boylston, Massachusetts; mother and step-father, Imogene (James E.) Watson of Lancaster, Massachusetts; daughter, Bobbie Jo (Alan) Sliwa Stanley of Charleston, South Carolina; son, Mitchel (Alexandra) Sliwa of Cranston, Rhode Island; sibling, Alan Sliwa of Lancaster Massachusetts and his former wife Susan of Southport, North Carolina, Sandra E. Sliwa (Barry) Watson of Lancaster, Massachusetts and Nancy (Richard) Pacella of Foxborough, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Lilly Jean Sliwa, Mitchel Rafael Sliwa and Rose Marie Sliwa.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Ann Sliwa.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Perry Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
