Norma Richardson King, 69, passed away Monday, January 16, 2006 in Williamsburg Community Hospital. Mrs. King was originally from Roanoke, VA. She was a graduate of Asbury College, received a master’s degree from Indiana University, and a doctorate from Interamerican University in Saltilo, Mexico. She spent 7 years teaching school in Argentina. She taught Spanish at East Carolina University for 7 years. She was a school librarian at Dozier Middle School, Newsome Elementary School, and both the old and new Hines Middle Schools.
She and husband, David King, professor emeritus of Christopher Newport University, have been married for over 30 years. Mrs. King was a loving wife, compassionate friend, talented gardener, musician, seamstress and dedicated teacher.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, William J. and Claudine O. Richardson, of Roanoke.
She is survived by her husband, David King, of Williamsburg, and her brother, Kenneth Richardson and family, of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Bucktrout of Williamsburg Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:15 p.m. until the start of the service.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 21, 2005 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Rebecca, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to your charity of choice.
