Lewis Shiron Murphy, 87, of Sycamore passed away Friday, October 4, 2019 at his residence.
Lewis was born on November 28, 1931 in Ashburn to the late Lewis M. and Daisy Guy Murphy. He was a member of High Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 27 years. He was a retired plumber having worked for Fleetwood Mobile Homes. Lewis served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He survived by his daughter, Debra Murphy(Winfred) Dowdy of Sycamore; son, Gene Shiron Murphy of Leesburg; grandchildren, April Garland (Stacy) Lasseter, Brooke Garland, Shea Murphy May, Wendy Dowdy Coney, Amy Dowdy (Raymond) Poore and Winfred (Michasia) Dowdy, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Ragen and Murphy Lasseter, Walker May, Eryn Kelly, Lindsey Poore, Deviner and Desaree McCray and Gerald Coney; great-great-granddaughter, Paisley McCray.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Mae Murphy and his siblings, Ruthie Whittle, Sarah Nell Clements, Curtis Murphy, Ellison Murphy, Nealeon Murphy.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM Sunday, October 6, 2019 at High Hill Baptist Church with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
