Reuben B. Pitts, 90, of Sycamore passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Pruitt Health Care in Ashburn.
Reuben was born on June 28, 1930 in Turner County to the late Joe Hardy and Nancy Blanchard Pitts. He was a member of Nunez Baptist Church in Swainsboro where he was a deacon. Reuben also served his country with honor in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He also retired from the United States Navy. Reuben graduated from Ashburn High School and ABAC.
He is survived by his son, Jimmy Byrd of Sycamore; step-son, Dana (Susan) Edge of Register; step-daughters, Becky Foskey of Swainsboro and Jena Denver of Tennessee; grandchildren, Jim (Pam) Byrd, Rachel Walker and Mica (Bert) Gorday; great-grandchildren, Barrie Byrd, Rayana Walker, Analee Gorday, Hunter Pilkinton, Alexes Pilkinton and Drew Pilkinton; great-great-grandchild, Kye Walker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Selita Reeves Pitts, his second wife, Ellen Turner Pitts, a daughter-in-law, Carol Byrd and a great-grandson, Drake Walker.
Funeral services will be private.
