Charles Willingham, Sr.

Funeral Services for Charles A. Willingham, Sr. age 87, of Ashburn will be held at 11:00 A. M. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Willingham died Monday, March 6, 2006, at his residence after long illness.

A native of Turner County he was the son of the late Charles A. and Lula Elmira Powers Willingham and the widower of the late Mary Evelyn Stripling Willingham. He was a veteran of World War Two serving in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class and was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his children Charles A. Willingham, Jr., of Ashburn, Mary Ann W. Bridges of Warwick, Ga. and Barbara W. Barnette, Sycamore, Ga. and eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one grandson Matthew Charles Willingham Oct. 14, 1975.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from six until eight at Perry Funeral Chapel.
