Graveside services for Sam Goode, Jr. 95, of Mansfield, MO (previously lived in DeLand, FL) will be held, Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Tifton, GA. Mr. Goode passed away February 12, 2022 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO after a brief illness.
The son of Sam Goode, Sr. and Anna Belle Bryan Goode, he was born in Tift County, GA. Mr. Goode was retired Navy. In the Navy he was Chief Petty Officer and served as a Radar Specialist and worked in Naval Intelligence. He proudly served in World War II. Mr. Goode loved his wife, daughters, grandchildren and he was so loved by them and was fondly called “Pops”. He was what you would call “A Good Guy”---always willing to help his family, friends and neighbors. You could always count on Sam or Jr. as he was also called. Sam was of strong character and had an incredible work ethic which he instilled in his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter Phyllis (Jerry) Hall, Mansfield, MO; grandchildren Theresa (Jason) Arndt, Springfield, MO; Steven (Jeana) Hall, Mountain Grove, MO; Marcia (Venson) Craft, Deland, FL; Michelle (Todd) Bullis, Deland, FL and great-grandchildren, Rachel (Bleau) Gross; Collin (Kayleigh) Bellavia; Ciana (Brandon) Baxter; Zachary Craft; Morgan (Cole) Woody; Alyssa Bullis and Dylan Bullis and two great-great grandchildren Olivia Woody and Owen Woody and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Goode; daughter, Patricia (Tricia) Petty; two sisters, Kathryn Goode Blankenship; Grace Goode Tillery; six brothers, Otis Goode; Harold Goode; Edwin Preston; Amos Goode; Webb Goode and Marvin Goode.
