John Bolden West

Funeral services for John Bolden “Daddy Bo” West, Sr., of Sycamore, Ga. will be held Monday, May 1, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. West died Saturday at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr.West was born in Turner County, Georgia and was the son of the late James S. & Florence Holt West. He was a retired farmer and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class. He was a member of the American Legion and was named Turner County’s Conservationist of the Year. He was an avid fisherman, bird hunter, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Mr. West is survived by his wife, Imogene Barker West of Sycamore, Ga. and his children, John B. West, Jr. and his wife Mary, of LaGrange, Ga., Jerry Y. West & his wife Judy of Tifton, Debbie W. Phelps and her husband Ed of LaGrange, Ga.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Tammy Barton & husband Matt, and John C. West of LaGrange, Ga., Daniel West & wife, Julie of Ashburn, Rachael & Rebekah West of Valdosta, Melissa Moore & husband Keith of LaGrange, and Lee Phelps & wife, Leisha of Senoia, Ga. Mr. West is also survived by four great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel, Ashburn, Ga.
