Dorothy Imogene Beard Wells, 87, of Ashburn passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Pruitt Health in Ashburn.
Imogene was born on September 6, 1934, in Turner County to the late Cecil Harper Beard and Edith Braddy Beard Potts. She was employed by Colonial Stores, Inc. where she was a head cashier for many years. Imogene was a member of Sycamore Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing genealogy research and was proud of her southern heritage. Her activity in many civic organizations including; Order of the Eastern Star- Worth Chapter #454, Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of 1812, Daughters of Indian Wars, Daughters of American Colonists, Southern Dames of America, and Colonial Dames XVII Century echoed her pride in her heritage.
She is survived by her son, Emmitt Taylor Hardwick, Jr. of Ashburn; brother Wyatt A. Beard (Carol) of Geneva, FL.; sister Emmaline Henricksen(Peter) of Akron, OH; grandchildren, Patrick Alexander Hardwick (Kisha) and Courtney Taylor Hardwick; and great grandchild, Harper June Hardwick.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Preston A. Wells, and siblings, Bobby Ivan Beard, C.A. Potts, Jr., and Michael Clark Potts.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Perry Funeral Chapel. A private, family only interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
