Ronald E. Leger, 84, of Ashburn passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Tift Regional Medical Center with family by his side.
Ronald was born on August 10, 1937 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Robert and Zella Stillwell Leger. He was a retired Southern Baptist minister serving at multiple churches over the years. He served as a minister at First Baptist Church of Lumber City, Georgia, First Baptist Church of Statenville, GA, First Baptist Church of Woodbine, Georgia, First Baptist Church of Mershon, Georgia, Terrell Baptist of Worth County, GA, and Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church of Mt. Lebanon, Alabama. Ronald was a member of and has attended First Baptist Church of Ashburn for the past several years. He was a HAM radio operator for many years and also enjoyed time outdoors. Ronald served his country with honor in the United States Army from 1960-1966.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Miriam “Cricket” Leger of Ashburn and his children, Becky (John) Rice of Ardmore, Alabama, Ruthellen (Kenny) Johnson of Shingler, Paul (Christie) Leger of Tifton, and Rachelle (John) Nipper of Ashburn. Ronald is survived by his grandchildren, Amber Rice, Carmen Rice, Wesley Johnson, Ryan (Tiffany) Johnson, Christopher (Whitney) Leger, and Nicole (Jamie) Jennings and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roland Leger.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Perry Funeral Chapel. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Perry Funeral Chapel.
