Funeral Services for Paul E. Scoggins, age 87, of 196 Scoggins Road, Ashburn will be held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday at the Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Scoggins died Wednesday August 16, 2006 at his residence after a illness.

Mr. Scoggins was a native of Hart County, Georgia, the son of the late James William and Effie Leo Smith Scoggins. He had been a resident of Turner County for 79 years. He was a retired farmer and mechanic. He also loved tending bees and selling honey as well as traveling with “Goober Movers Camping Club”. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class. He was ordained as a Deacon at the Sycamore Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Lillie Wright Scoggins of Ashburn whom he married on August 11, 1940 at Inaha Baptist Church. They had five children, James Edward & Vonna Scoggins, of Clermont, Fl.; Robert Leon & Sandra Scoggins, of Dudley, N. C.; Melvin Thomas & Janice Scoggins, of Albany, Ga.; Mildred & John Shepherd, of Ashburn; and Joyce Pauline & C. E. Edmunds, of Sylvester, Ga. He had a brother A. J. Scoggins, of Chula, Ga.; and sisters Leotis Camp, Guynelle Cranford, Jimmie Ruth Metcalf, and Effie Jo Metcalf all of Sycamore, Ga. He had eleven grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from Six until Nine P. M. at Perry Funeral Chapel, Ashburn, Ga.
