Florence Pirkle Bowen

Funeral Services for Mrs. Florence Pirkle Bowen, 90, of Gainesville, GA will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 15, 2006 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Turner Co. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Bowen passed away Wednesday in a Gainesville Nursing Home following an extended illness.

The daughter of the late Grover Washington and Bessie Nora Jones Pirkle she was born in Hall Co., Ga. A retired Elementary School teacher she was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Gainesville. As a former resident of Thomson, she was a former long time member of the First Baptist Church in Thomson where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the WMU. She was the widow of Dr. Emory M. Bowen.

Survivors include her sisters, Grace Hoyt, Allen, TX., Maybelle Cross, Jackson, GA., Geneva Roberts, Tallahassee, FL., Ethelene Haselton, Burlington, NC. Her brothers, Eugene Pirkle, Sycamore, GA., Rev. Otho Pirkle, Macon, GA., Walter Edwin Pirkle, Buford, GA.; a devoted sister-in-law, Ann Pirkle, Myrtle, MS. and a large number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 9 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
