Funeral services for J. I. Youngblood,Jr., age 86, of Ashburn will be held Friday, November 10, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the Ashburn First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Youngblood died Wednesday at Tift Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Youngblood was born in Turner Co., Ga. the son of the late John Iverson and Mattie Mae Durham Youngblood. He was a member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church where he was a deacon and a member of the Fishermen Sunday School class. He served as Mayor for the City of Ashburn from 1979 to 1986. He was a member of the Macon Masonic Lodge #5 and a Shriner. He was a retired mechanical contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie C. Youngblood of Ashburn; his daughter Jennette (Steve) Swinford of Bryson City, NC; his brothers R. E. “Bobby” Youngblood of Ashburn and Edgar Wayne Youngblood of Milledgeville, GA.; his sister Mattie Lou Chaffin, Jonesboro, GA.
The family will receive friends at the residence on Thursday, November 9, 2006.
