Ruthie Mae Nelson Whiddon

Funeral services for Ruthie Mae Nelson Whiddon, age 75, 1308 Cofer Road, Ashburn will be held Friday, July 6, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at the Harmony Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Whiddon died Wednesday at her residence following an extended illness.

Mrs. Whiddon was born in Worth County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late John N. and Florence Mae Stevens Nelson. She was a homemaker and the owner of Jitterbugs Daycare in Ashburn. She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Sylvester and was the widow of the late George A. Whiddon who died September 3, 1989.

Mrs. Whiddon is survived by 3 sons: Johnny Preston (Pam) Whiddon, Morven, Ga., Jimmy Albert (Dana) Whiddon, Ashburn, Ga., Jacob DeMonte (Mary Ann) Whiddon, Ashburn, Ga. ; 3 daughters: Joan Marie (Chris) Law, Sumner, Ga., June Kay (Mike) Johnston, Ashburn, Ga. and Jackie Sue (Allen) Watson, Ashburn, Ga. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Jeremy Johnston, Jason Johnston, Petty Officer 2nd Class Derrick Law, Wade Law, Cory Whiddon, David Rushing, Clint Watson, Chip Watson, Zach Whiddon, Cody Whiddon, Timothy Whiddon, Ashley Whiddon and 4 Great Grandchildren: Katie Lynn Johnston, Stephen Croft, Emma Grace Watson and Casey Johnston. Also surviving are 2 brothers: James F. Nelson and Earl Henry Nelson both of Ashburn and 3 sisters: Gertrude Jones, Ashburn, Ga., Mary Hartman, Jacksonville, Fla., and Virginia Venable, Fairhope, Alabama.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
