Funeral services for Mr. B. E. Walker, 76, of Ashburn, GA. will be held 11:00 Wednesday, August 8, 2007 in the Ashburn First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Walker passed away Sunday at his residence following a brief illness.

The son of the late Willie Benjamin and Mamie Heath Walker he was born in Laurens Co., GA. and had resided in Ashburn for the last 49 years. He was the widower of the late Margaret Overstreet Walker who passed away March 31, 2007. He was the retired owner and operator of M & W Sportswear in Sycamore. He was a member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Board of Trustees. He served two terms as Councilman for the City of Ashburn and also served as Ashburn’s Mayor from 1986-1989. Mr. Walker also was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Ashburn Turner Co. Chamber of Commerce, former member of the Board of Directors of the Citizens Bank of Ashburn and Community National Bank of Ashburn. He was a member of the Sycamore Lodge #210 F & AM and a Shriner member of the Hasan Temple.

Survivors include his sons, Mike (Janey) Walker and Ben (Debbie) Walker both of Ashburn. Nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His sister Marian Keen of Cochran, GA. In addition to his parents and his wife he was also preceded in death by his daughters, Debbie Walker in 1957 and Donna W. McCombs in 2001; his granddaughters Megan Leigh and Rebecca Ann McCombs in 1981 and a great grandson, Drake Walker in 2006.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from seven until nine at Perry Funeral Chapel.
