Sybil Ruth Britt

Funeral services for Sybil Ruth Akridge Britt, 78, will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Ken Kicklighter, Rev. Donnie Duncan, and Rev. Wynton Lee will officiate. Mrs. Britt died Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Britt was born in Baker County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late H.E. and Lucille Akridge. She was a longtime resident of Sycamore and was a life long homemaker who enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed pickling, shelling peas, and making blackberry jelly. She loved doing all the things that made her a good farmer’s wife. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and her oldest great-grandsons: Cameron Britt, Damon Britt, Drew Britt, Josh McDuffie, Jay Durden and Jesse Snow. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Chapman, Tom Sheffield, James Snow, David Durden, and the Fidelis Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Britt is survived by her husband of 64 years, Henry Britt, of Sycamore, Ga.,; five children: Monroe and Christie Britt, Townsend, Ga., David and Debbie Britt, Valdese, N.C., Shorty and Sue Britt, Tifton, Ga., Billy Britt, Sycamore, and Susan Britt of Rock Hill, S.C. Also surviving are two sisters, Inez Yarbrough of Irwinville, Ga., Louise Dean of Alma, Ga., nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grand children.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel. Visitors will be received at the home at 430 Britt Road, Sycamore, Ga. prior to visitation.
