Preacher Gene Ramsey

Funeral services for Preacher Gene Ramsey, 62, Ashburn, Ga. will be held Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Rebecca with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Preacher Gene died Friday in Albany following a brief illness. Following services at the cemetery, a covered dish luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with everyone is asked to attend.

Preacher Gene was born in Albany, Ga. and was the son of the late Alfred Eugene Ramsey, Sr. and Agnes Barnard Ramsey. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Navy.

He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served as the church Pastor. He was a salesman with HD Supply Co. in Albany. He was a longtime resident of Lee County before moving to Turner County six years ago. He was a member of the Turner County Ministerial Association.

Preacher Gene is survived by two sons, Stephen Dean Ramsey, Ashburn, Ga. & Robert Eugene Ramsey, Leesburg, Ga. He is also survived by one brother, Ray Blankenship, Ashburn and one sister, Dora Anne Ramsey Tramel, Fort Gaines, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, it was Preacher Gene’s request that donations be made to the church of your choice. Preacher Gene also requests those attending the funeral be dressed in casual attire…no coats or ties please.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
