Benny Fred McCurdy

Funeral services for Benny Fred McCurdy, Sr., 62, of Ashburn will be held Monday, January 21, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Christian Union Church of God in Ashburn. Interment will follow in the Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County. Mr. McCurdy died Saturday at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Mr. McCurdy was born in Irwin County, Georgia and was the son of the late William B. & Mildred King McCurdy. He was a member of the Christian Union Church of God and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a retired truck driver and heavy equipment operator.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Troupe McCurdy, Ashburn; four sons, Tracy McCurdy, Arabi; Stacey McCurdy, Atlanta; Ben McCurdy, Sycamore; Kevin Tripp, Valdosta; and five daughters, Janie DeBruhl, Sycamore; Shadonna Loyd, Panama City Beach, FL; Sheila Harris, Sycamore, Wanda Roberts, Tifton and Anna Presscott, Folkston, GA. Also surviving are two brothers, Royce McCurdy, Valdosta; J.C. McCurdy, Tifton and two sisters, Evelyn Hiers, Valdosta and Lottis Key, Lenoir, Tenn. Mr. McCurdy is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 20, 2008 at from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
