David Raines

Funeral services for David B. Raines, 95, of Ashburn, GA. will be held, Friday, February 22, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the Ashburn First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Raines passed away Wednesday at his residence following a brief illness.

The son of the late John Needham and Mary Alice Clark Raines he was born in Turner Co. and had resided in Turner Co. all of his life. He was a retired pharmacist having owned and operated Raines Pharmacy of Ashburn for a long number of years. He was a member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, watching the Atlanta Braves and the UGA Bulldogs Football games. He was also a member of the Primetimers and Joyful Messengers. He was a graduate of The Ashburn High School. Mr. Raines was preceded in death by his first wife Lillian B. Raines and his second wife Maureen N. Raines.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia B. Raines, Ashburn, GA.; his children, John B. (Pam) Raines, Danielsville, GA., Nancy Hall, Knoxville, TN. and Carole Spooner, Greenville, SC. His step-children, Harold M. “Hank” Raines, Cuthbert, GA., Linda R. (Charles) Parrish, Ashburn, GA., Caroline (Paul) Ross, Atlanta, GA., Jane (John) Holland, Athens, GA., Michelle (Marvin) Kennedy, Madison, GA., Roxanne (Jim) Brown, Madison, GA. A brother, Pat (Janie) Raines, Peachtree City, GA. and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from six until eight at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn.
