Graveside funeral services for Mr. Alton Mangham, 89, of Sycamore, GA. will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 19, 2008 in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Mr. Mangham passed away Monday at Tift Regional Hospital following an extended illness.
The son of the late Floyd Elmer and Georgia Mae Adams Mangham. He was born in Turner County, and was a member of the Inaha Baptist Church in Turner County. He was a retired farmer and was retired from the Pike County school system. Mr. Mangham served in the US Army during WW II and served in the Pacific Theater. He was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Florence T. Mangham of Sycamore, GA; his children, Dennis (Angie) Mangham of Albany, GA, Martha (B.E.) Miller of Ashburn, GA and Patsy (Michael) Markham of Tifton, GA; his brother, Douglas Mangham of Zebulon, GA; his sisters Maebelle Ellerbee, Thomaston, GA, Margaret Brown, Meansville, GA and Lucille Oglesby, Molena, GA.; Seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from six until eight at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn.
