Funeral services for William J. “Jud” Alberson, 86, of Sycamore will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Ashburn First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Live Oak Cemetery in Turner County. Mr. Alberson died Sunday at his residence following a brief illness.
Mr. Alberson was born in Odell, Texas and had lived most of his live in Turner County. He was the son of the late Guy Otto and Lucille Fletcher Alberson. He was a member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church where he attended the Fisherman's Sunday School Class and was Director of the Brotherhood for many years. He served as a Staff Sergeant with the 12th Infantry Division in the U.S. Army during WW II in Northern France and was awarded the Purple Heart. He served as the long time Post Commander of American Legion Post #98. He was an avid reader, gardener and fisherman.
Mr. Alberson is survived by his wife, Juanita H. Alberson of Sycamore, Ga. and two daughters, Wanda A. Sellers of St Marys, Ga. and Sandra A. Parker of Ashburn, Ga. He is also survived by two brothers, Reginald Alberson and Jimmy Alberson both of Sycamore and four sisters, Jane L. Wooten, of Annadale, Virginia, Betty Day, of Rebecca, Charnelle Reinhardt, of Ashburn, and Judy Payne, of Hurt, Virginia.
Also surviving are three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Shayna Marie Simmons.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 P. M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
