Christine H. Ross

Funeral services for Christine H. Ross, 92, of Sycamore, Ga. will be held Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. at the Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Ross died Tuesday in Gray Nursing Home, Gray, Ga. following an extended illness.

Mrs. Ross was born in Turner County, Georgia. She was the baby daughter and last surviving child of the late Rufus T. and Sarah Jane Ross Mauldin. She had lived most of her life in Turner County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the Lydia Sunday School Class. She loved her church and working in her yard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ode Dukes, one son, James B. “Jim” Howard and two grandchildren, Edward Cannon and Lynn Howard. She was also preceded in death by her 14 brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Ross is survived by two daughters, Betty H. Cannon, Macon, Ga. and Dorrie H. Lumpkin, Lizella, Ga. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Keith (Alice) Cannon, Gray, Ga., James (Dawn) Lumpkin, Macon, Ga., Mark (Denise) Lumpkin, Gray, Ga., Dr. Drew (Kaylar) Howard, Sycamore, Ga. and Michael (Jacquelyn) Lumpkin, Salt Lake City, Utah, and fourteen great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
