Funeral services for Hilda McCard Hobby, 78, of Ashburn will be held Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ashburn First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Mrs. Hobby died Sunday, May 25, 2008 in Macon following an extended illness.
Mrs. Hobby’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Hobby was born in Turner County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Herman L. McCard, Sr. and Hattie Burdette McCard. She was a homemaker and had resided in Turner County all of her life. She was a member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Hobby is survived by one son, Royce ( Judy) Hopkins, Lizella, Ga.; and three daughters, Debbie ( Marty) Cohen, Tifton, Ga.; Cynthia (Robert) Exum, Leesburg, Ga.; and Stacey (Scott) Houston, Tallahassee, Fl. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Faye Scott, Pottstown, Pa. and Lois Blair, Columbus, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Hobby, three brothers, Herman L. McCard, Jr., Bobby McCard, Lanier McCard, and one sister, Melba Sikes.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 P. M. at Perry Funeral Chapel, Ashburn, Ga.
Flowers will be accepted; however, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ashburn or the American Heart Association.
