Memorial services for Mrs. Peggy S. Applewhite, 61, of Ashburn, GA. will be held Friday, May 30, 2008 at 3:00 PM in the Ashburn First United Methodist Church in Ashburn, GA. Mrs. Applewhite passed away Tuesday at her residence following an extended illness.
The daughter of the late Frank Sosebee and Eloise LeCroy Sosebee of Toccoa, GA, she was born in Stephens Co., GA and had lived in Turner Co. since 1982. After 22 years she retired as a school teacher with the Turner County Board of Education and was a member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Applewhite was a UGA Alumni and former majorette with The Red Coat Marching Band. She loved fishing at Fernandina Beach, FL, spending time with her family, gardening and bird watching. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Captain William L. Phillips who was killed in action in the Vietnam War. In addition, she was also preceded in death by her Great-Grandmother “Big Mama” at 102 years of age.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Applewhite of Ashburn, GA.; her daughter and son-in-law, Jolie and Frank Britt of Statesboro, GA.; her son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Kim Applewhite of Chula; her mother, Eloise “Weesie” Sosebee of Toccoa, GA.; her grandchildren, Abby Elaine Applewhite and James Russell “Jack” Applewhite both of Chula, GA. and Emma Madison Britt of Statesboro, GA. and her special friends “The Girls”.

The family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 PM until the hour of services at the Ashburn First United Methodist Church.
