Funeral services for Velma Braswell Hale, 79, of Sycamore, GA. will be held Friday, September 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Bethel Baptist Church in Turner Co., GA. Mrs. Hale passed away Tuesday at Tift Regional Hospital. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The daughter of the late Alfred P. and Lillie Mae Braswell she was born in Dodge Co., GA. and had resided in Turner Co. for over 60 years. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Hale enjoyed reading, working with her flowers and loving her family.

Survivors include her husband, D. D. Hale, Sycamore, GA., her children, Diane (Gus) Upshaw, Tifton, GA., Christy (Wayne) Markham, Sycamore, GA., Deborah (Gerald) Wood, Sycamore, GA.. Her grandchildren, Jason (Michele) Upshaw, Tifton, GA., April (Jeff) Mitchell, Sycamore, GA., Melody (Lannie) Baker, Moultrie, GA., and Lance (Melaina) Markham, Sycamore, GA.; her great-grandchildren, Scott and Mary Upshaw, Cody and KaDee Mitchell, Lanier Baker and Karaline and Cameron Markham. Her brothers, L. A. (Mildred) Braswell, Tifton, GA. and Bobby (Jeanette) Braswell, Tifton, GA.; Sisters, Mae Evelyn (T.H.) Tawzer, Tifton, GA., Sally (Arthur) Storey, Blakely, GA., Colleen (Franklin) Haman, TyTy, GA., Jean (Ray) Lloyd, Sycamore, GA., Gearldean (Roy) Farrell, Tifton, GA. Wanda (Thomas) Harris, Tifton, GA., and Sandra Sumner, Lenox, GA. A sister-in-law, Betty Braswell, Tifton, GA.

Mrs. Hale was preceded in death by her brother, James (Bud) Braswell, a sister, Minnie Lou Tindall and a brother-in-law Bernice Tindall.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
